Set after our escape from the Cardassians, whenever that will be.
Madison Cunningham 12/07/2015
It was a tough job processing the incoming colonists and assigning them places to stay. After managing their escape from the incoming Cardassian fleet, the Aquarius crew set about the possibly tougher task of housing thousands of now homeless colonists to what will be their new home, again, somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Federation space -- but far enough away so that they could live their lives with little to no interference from outside parties.
With the number of colonists exceeding the Aquarius' emergency capacity limit, it quickly became apparent that the excess colonists not assigned to the makeshift accommodations in the various cargo bays, mess halls and VIP quarters, where the colony's leaders and other officials would be staying, may have to bunk with some or all of the crew. The decision of this, Madison would leave to Security.
But having to share her quarters with some random smelly old man wasn't something Madison..and by proxy Janelle, looked forward to very much. Madison sat in her seat at the Operations console and perused the manifest compiled when the colonists came aboard against security footage and saw a group of four cute young women, who would have otherwise been assigned to one of the cargo bays, traveling unaccompanied together huddling together quietly and assigned them to stay at her quarters -- if the computer was going to assign people to stay with the crew, she might as well beat it to the punch, Madison thought to herself.
The computer was still processing most colonists, and had begun assigning the rest of the colonists to the cargo bays after Madison and the other departments swiftly collaborated in the placement of enough beds for the displaced colonists and with the extra weight of the colonists as well as their numbers, hampering how fast they can take them to their new world, some M-Class planet she never heard of before in some system she also never heard of either.
Madison received a chirp on her console, signifying that her new roommates have acknowledged their new assignment and were making their way to her quarters. "I should go check on them and show them around" Madison said. A bridge officer gave her a look. "Don't worry, we'll take very good care of them, won't we Janelle?" Madison giggled and gave Janelle a sexy wink then sauntered off to the turbolift before Janelle could respond.
A few minutes later, Madison arrived down to the deck which housed her quarters and saw her new guests settling in, with bags in hand, three of which looked to be in their late teens or very early 20s. One though, looked to be about 10 or 12. They were kind of dowdy looking in whatever garb they were wearing from the colony, but were all pretty cute and attractive. "Hello" Madison said, introducing herself. "Welcome aboard the Aquarius, and more specifically, my quarters. I'm Commander Madison Cunningham, the Executive Officer" she said, smiling at them. A brown-haired girl looked up at her. "Uhh, thanks. I didn't know we'd get assigned here together. I'm Katie, the blonde there is my friend Donna, next to her is the quiet and shy-looking raven haired girl Becky, then we have the brunette there, Allie, and last but not least my younger sister Tia."
Madison smiled and nodded at the girls who waved or nodded awkwardly at her. "Yeah, we hadn't started people to crew quarters yet, but I think it would be safer if the four of you stayed together in a place like this. Safety wise, you're fine no matter where you'd stay. Security here is top-notch, and our Security blokes are always on the ball, but our computer is kind of random in assigning complex things like this, and most likely you would have all been separated, staying in various areas of the ship, so I assigned you all here manually." Madison shrugged. Katie gave a half-smile. "Well, I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that we appreciate it. I'm sure your security dudes are fine and all, but yeah, who knows who we'd end up with. Most of the men try to hit on us on the colony, it'd be even worse in a confined place like the cargo bay, or whatever. Thanks for letting us stay in your place" said Katie.
"Yeah, no worries. I have two bedrooms; some of you can stay there. I also have the chesterfield set here, which can also double as a bed" Madison said, referring to a white leather large L-shaped designer sofa, that she bought from Italy. Bathrooms are either through the second door there, and in my room over there" Madison responded, gesturing to the master bedroom that she shared with Janelle. "Becky and I can stay in the second room there, eh Becky?" Donna said with a wry smile, grabbing Becky around her shoulder. Becky nodded quietly. "And I think Tia and I can stay in the couch. Looks big enough for both of us" Katie said. "Cool, that's sorted then" Madison said, turning to leave. "If you need anything else, let me know. Replicators are over there too, should you need them, I gotta head back up to the bridge, but I wanted to show you around a bit first and make sure you're getting settled in. I don't know how long you'll be here, but I've a feeling it'll be awhile. Do try to make yourselves at home"
"Hey, what kind of accent do you have, Madison?" asked Tia, who never heard it before. "Australian. I was born and raised in Brisbane, in the eastern part of the country." Mads responded. "I've never been there before" Tia said softly. "You should, it's nice. Just mind the 'roos." Mads giggled, then headed out the door. Madison returned to the bridge, giving the girls time to unpack and settle into her quarters. Whilst there, she monitored the assignment of the rest of the colonists and quickly found that space on the ship was filling up fast. As big as the Aquarius was, she couldn't imagine what it was like on the smaller vessels accompanying them. Madison adjusted their course and synced her position with that of the other ships, only being able to go as fast as they can safely travel. "Our new guests seem to be doing pretty well in there" Madison said quietly to Janelle. "They're all really cute too, especially little Tia" she said, giggling to herself. "I'm sure you'll like them too"
