Mission Briefing - October 24, 2023
Several months have passed since the recovery of the Polaris and her crew from unusual and uncertain circumstances, through which the crew was confronted by a highly advanced and barely-comprehensible alien craft. After a number of “jumps” through both temporal and spatial settings, the crew has been returned to Earth, with no clear memory of what—or who—was responsible for their restoration. Each crewman has been sequestered for several weeks while the investigation has been pending, with numerous different parties within Starfleet debriefing different members of the crew and undertaking efforts to restore their memory of the incident. Only a few weeks have passed in 2361 since the Polaris’ disappearance, much to the surprise of the crew.
In the meantime, the events are considered top-secret, though, after several weeks, the senior staff has been released from their “stay” at Starfleet Headquarters, and is officially on shore leave pending final decisions from Starfleet’s sciences and intelligence divisions. Rumor has it that, while the Polaris is “impounded” to allow for research, the Aquarius herself has completed its repairs and retrofit.
As most of the department heads and senior staff enjoy their newly-permitted freedoms to venture home and on personal vacations of their own, a few remain in the area, eagerly awaiting summons back to duty.
