Mission Briefing – July 21, 2362 – 20:20
Aquarius is mostly disabled after a crushing attack by the Vor'cha Bek'tar. Turluk manages to escape turbolift confinement and returns to the bridge, taking over tactical from Jetrel. Julia orders Atton and Greta down to engineering to assist in repairs. Atton however, sensing the dire situation, directs Greta to set up a secondary command in main engineering, should the bridge be disabled by some means. While Greta works, Atton attempts to find anyone on the ship with engineering experience to assist Pendable with repairs. Ferron, despite being seriously injured in the collapse of sickbay, makes her way to Cargo Bay 2 where an emergency sickbay was set up prior to the battle, the proper secondary sickbay already overwhelmed with casualties.
The birds of prey get the Excelsior-class T'Prath to chase them, allowing the Bek'tar, already more than a match for Aquarius to chase them down from behind, quickly disabling and destroying the ship with no survivors. The birds of prey then break off, moving to land on the surface of Gault outside the colony. McCabe performs a bit of engineering wizardry to channel the planetary shield he'd developed to strike one of the birds of prey with a pseudo-lightning bolt, destroying it. The other one however, lands outside the colony, deploying warriors to move into the colony.
The Bek'tar circles back around, hailing Aquarius. General Vort demands the surrender of the ship and colony in the name of the Klingon Empire, promising fair treatment of the prisoners. Julia forcefully declines, and the Bek'tar moves into attack. Turluk, having used the momentary lull to load front torpedo tube, launches a volley just as the ship decloaks. One torpedo manages to strike the unshielded Klingons, causing moderate damage and disabling roughly half of their disruptor banks. The Bek'tar responds with a devastating attack on the Aquarius overwhelming its partially restored shields before firing a torpedo directly into the deflector dish, destroying it in a bone jarring explosion.
Aquarius now floats dead in space, extensively damaged. The port nacelle has been destroyed. The deflector dish and sections of all decks directly behind it have been completely blown out. A large torpedo strike has also produced a several decks deep hull breach on the underside of the saucer section, while the rest of the ship has been peppered with disruptor bolt strikes.
As we resume the ship is in dire straits. Emergency power is sporadic, causing life support, gravity and emergency forcefields to cut in and out.
TBS: None.
