MCPO Vladislav Luca Airlock 6B
Luca proceeded with (Alicia) Skye in tow, looking around the murky interior of the vessel. "What do you make of these?" he asked her. "I'm no expert, but it sure looks like they've made a lot of modifications to the standard type. Indeed, there were panels torn out and clearly welded back together, pieces of the interior hull were rather haphazardly put back together, as if a mosaic, and it all made him think of Orion haulers he'd seen. "Let's get the scanners running, see if we can't find what got them sick to begin with. I bet it was something they were carrying -- something they weren't supposed to be carrying."

Walking through the death ward of sick bay, Qeriv suddenly had flash backs of Baraqu 5 that the Excalibur encountered in the Maoran sector. Scanning the sick bay with his antennae many of the Rigellians, many of the life signs or death signs, better describes it, are very similar.
Nurse, do you know what are these people suffering from?

Mission Notes
As the engineering team led by Luca investigates, they find a number of voids and blank spots. This would be worth investigating closely.
Meanwhile, in the Medical Bay, one of the nurses rushes over to Qeriv. "None yet." She looked over to Delaney. "Doctor?"

OOC: Sorry about the lack of posts, I've been quite stressed out, about work and other projects I'm working on, and I don't like to write a less then optimal post, so I've bided my time, and I hope this post will be accepted.. Ensign Alicia Skye Airlock 6B Deep in thought about the cause of the Rigelians sickness, Alicia didn't react to Luca since she had all her focus and concentration on scanning while she is looking for the leak of Theta Radiation, Delaney mentioned.. Her tricorder showed her some blank areas were her tricorder can't get a clear reading, scanning through the corridor which looks like the walls got a little to many patch jobs, from an amateur Engineer.. "Except these blank shielded areas, is a mystery, I don't see anything causing them to be sick, but if Delaney is correct, we should be looking for a Theta Radiation leak, usually from a warp core leak.." Alicia said hoping Luca have anything to add.. Tag: Vladislav Luca

((Gosh, sorry guys. Life... busy...))
Tegau nodded to Luca and gestured to the three Rigelians, putting her arm under the sickest for support. She gave Alicia a nod and smile as she passed, drawing the sick Rigelians in her wake. "Have you been transporting anything unusual lately? It helps if you're hon-"
She grimaced at the coughing and vomiting, but it didn't sway her. She kept them moving, more by force of personality and orders rather than strength of her slight frame, calling ahead to SickBay for help bringing in the freighter crew. As soon as they all made it to SickBay, she directed her team.
"Get them on the biobeds and begin scans. We're thinking radiation, but conduct a thorough scan anyway. We need anti-nausea medication, right away!" Staying by the sickest one, she looked at him. "Are you in pain?"

OOC Notes: Sorry for the long delays since the last posts. It's been hard to keep momentum over here, but let's all double-down for March and beyond!
Mission Notes
One week has passed; several of the crew aboard the freighter (now definitively filled with plundered items, general black market objects, and other such cargo) have died of what seems to be theta radiation.
One of the objects pulled from the freighter is a strange, abstractly-shaped item, vaguely like an energy cell. It has been appropriately contained in the science lab.
- Science has been assigned to study the item and determine why it is emitting theta radiation. - Engineering is assisting Science on the technology side of the item. - Medical is working to keep the remaining four members of the freighter-pirate crew alive. - Starbase operations has been scolded -- harshly -- by Starfleet Command for allowing such trade business to even occur on a brand new, shiny station. They are being ordered to enforce stronger regulations, which means that operations and Security both are being required to meet with incoming freighter captains. Four ships -- one Tellarite, two non-Federation, and one Cardassian -- are expected in the next twenty-four hours. - Security is tasked with assisting operations in the management of incoming trade ships.

Admiral Sarvek Command Level
The admiral closed off communications with Starfleet, her expression even tighter than that she usually wore. Why Starfleet Command was so concerned about a (in her experience, anyway) usual amount of black market maneuvering about a starbase was beyond her. Most starbases continually had to deal with a number of such issues on any given day -- unless...
She retrieved a mug of tea from the replicator as she pondered the situation. Could Starfleet be operating under the suspicion that there was something particularly of import about the items that were being smuggled? If so, it was going to be up to the Science and Engineering teams to sort out. She sent a rapid message to the two departments to report any findings to her as soon as conclusions could be made.

Qeriv, heads to his work station in the Control Center. Looking over the most recent watch logs, reviewing ship's manifest from ships at the station and those due in. A station memo caught his eye, reading it over he looks through the station logs, boardings, docking, crew and passenger manifest. Nothing out of the ordinary, Doing a Star Fleet Security check of suspecisius ships, crews, or destinations. It was so much easier on a Star Ship then a station. To many people and ships coming and going, especially on a busy station like this one. If there is not enough to do, now they want us to interview every Captain and search every ship. On DS-9 we had installed some Klingon Security systems that monitored and scanned passengers and crew coming on or off the station at the airlocks and transport areas. We had also installed some Andorian sensor equipment on the transporters that detected anything abnormal. Considering the size of the stations security details and the new requirements some of this equipment would be a big help.
Qeriv writes up a request and sends his suggestions to the Admiral.

Tegau Delaney Sickbay
Tegau shoved herself away from her desk, her chair rolling till she stopped it by standing up. She frowned down at her cup of tea, gone cold, and the pile of paperwork that was all that was left of the dead freighter crew members. How long had it been that she'd been pulling double shifts trying to keep the remaining crew alive? She couldn't remember. Well, it was nothing a little tea couldn't help.
She slurped it down, coughing as it became apparent it wasn't tea, and remembering belatedly she'd switched to coffee. Regaining her composure, she took a deep breath and stepped out of her office, into the main bay of SickBay.
The doctor checked each patient's vitals, ensuring they were being recorded at measured intervals and checking for any changes. She nodded to Celeste as she passed by on her rounds, administering medication to boost the heart rate of one, pain meds to another. She frowned at the last, looking at his chart. He was teetering on the edge. If she gave him more sedative, it might push him over the edge, beyond medical science. And yet, the stress response of his body was killing him, and he'd already been given the recommended doses of medications.
"Hang in there," she told the unconscious man, heading to the wall panel. She'd wait another half hour before dosing him, trying to dance that thin thin line. In the meantime, perhaps music could do what medicine could not, and give this man a lifeline to hold onto.
"Computer, play Tegau 3," she said. She smiled as the sounds of the ocean washed over her, with a simple flute playing a melody over top. She could use a bit of stress relief, herself.
She shook herself, double checking each patient again, and then heading back to her research on the latest methods to treat radiation sickness. Oh yes, and the paperwork.....

OOC Note: Remember we're just before TNG in our timeline. Admiral Sarvek Command LevelA chime came from her padd, and the admiral looked over the variety of novel and creative solutions that Lieutenant Qeriv had suggested. With a nod, she approved them, making a copy of the instructions to send to Operations and Engineering to coordinate the necessary supplies and installations.

After Qeriv received the Captain's approval on upgrading the station's transporter security and monitoring systems he accessed the Andorian Security protocols used on Flatefisk Outpost. reading over some of the specs on the Andorian security systems that were used on Flatefisk Outpost. While he was looking over some of the protocols, he spotted a new advance version of the monitoring system that could be applied to the station. Contacting Andor for more information on the specs, and how he could get permission to apply an Andorian classified system or mortified version on a Federation Station far from the Home World and in a region the government didn't like.

Dr. Christy Nichols stood at one of the tall windows of the station, watching the USS Drake, a large bag with all of her worldly posessions swung on one shoulder. She had called it home for four years, but now it was time to move on. As it disappeared, she turned to face the station which was her new home. Starbase Capricorn, like most of the stations she had been on, was a bustle of activity. Well, it was past time for her to report in. She had allowed herself the extra few minutes to watch her old home fly off into the stars, so that she could give her whole self to this new endeavor. She was excited to have a brand new station to work in, so near the boundaries of known space.
Heading straight for the command deck, she spoke to the first person she saw. "I'm Dr. Christy Nichols," rank was blatant on her shoulder, so she didn't bother with that, "your new science specialist, reporting for duty. Could you direct me to Admiral Sarvek please?"

Mission Notes
As Medical has been working with the smugglers, the staff realizes that the medical issues cease spreading -- and dissipate -- after the smuggled items are placed into higher density force-field containers. Meanwhile, Qeriv's new monitoring system picks up on several small computer glitches spreading throughout Capricorn's mainframe. Nothing serious has been compromised as of yet, but some small incidents, like replicator malfunctions, are worsening.

Qeriv, monitoring station's security grid finds a number of suspicious readings, 'Computer, annalize block sections Alpha 11 to Beta 5 and Delta 1-16 for security breaks.' after waiting a few minutes the computer responds 'non security breech of section Alpha Tango 5-12. Threatening security breech of science sector Delta-Echo 14, and Echo-Echo 5. Missing annolog data from sector Delta 12-14.' Looking over the information, Qeriv 'Computer annalize computer breech of high profile data, locate location of access.' =/\= Captain I have located some suspicious activity leading to several breeches of the science and engineering systems.

Admiral Sarvek Command Level
The Vulcan admiral turned with a definitive air of disgust, placing the raktajino -- which had bits of polymers and other decidedly not-coffee-elements -- back into the replicator.
She tapped her communicator, signaling Qeriv. "You're not the only one. Check the station operations and management system as well. The replicator is on the fritz too."
The door chimed, and one of the younger non-comms serving at the station's commercial management team on the command deck popped his head inside her office. "Admiral? A new member of the science team has arrived. She wishes to speak with you?"
Sarvek nodded, re-settling herself behind her desk, and nodding as Nichols entered her office. "Welcome, Lieutenant--?"
